Herb, same thing happened to me with my '61
Vette. It turned out to be a loose ground in the engine bay. You didn't say
if you checked for spark when you pulled the #1 plug. I don't think the ignition
switch is at fault. It does turn the engine over. So your getting power to the
engine. Check for a loose coil wire or the hot lead to the the starter. I would
look for a faulty ground first. Remember these are glass bodies. When we bought
our first home my wife said to me," OK, we have a new home, what are we going to
sit on?" Guess where the money came from to furnish the house? Sure miss that
'61.
