If I was to put the tranny fluid in the car, do I need to change to oil soon after that, or is it OK to leave it in the engine until the next oil change?  I have never heard of this trick.  Why and how does it work?  Does the tranny fluid "defunk" the build up inside the engine near the lifters?  Has anyone else on the list tried this trick?  If so, how did it work for you?

Thanks List,
Lojac

Exhaust gasket leak, or a sticky lifter.  You can try dumping a quart of tranny fluid in with the oil when you change it.  Tranny fluid will help clean out the engine a little better, old trick.  The 350 in my 86 Cutlass has a ticking noise, but I know it's a leaky header gasket.  if it's a pinging noise, the carb maybe running lean.  Try adjusting the carb on it.
