Maybe try and loosen the tranny crossmember bolts to the frame. I might help 
it settle a little bit more. Maybe the difference between the powerglide and 
the th350 is too much different. Probably not enough to look different, but 
maybe enough to bind.  I wrestled my 350 into place over 307 frame mounts 
not realizing the frame mounts were different from 307 to 350 and fought 
with it, but finally pryed the mounts just enough to get it settled in. 
Could be your frame mounts are differnt from what a 350 needs. Just a couple 
of thoughts. Good luck!
