I bought my 70 not knowing a thing about it or how to tackle it as far as a
restoration was concerned. I was 18 when i got it back in 1998, now 22.
Took me 2.5 years & $26,000 to complete. I tell ya, the satisfaction i get
out of looking at that car everytime i do is unbelievable. I sit back and
say wow, dad & I did a pretty good job on this thing. the 70 is what I would
call a mild street rod, looks bone stock except for the rims, and has a nice
little 500 HP 454 under the hood. It pretty much just has bolt on
accessories. I enjoyed rebuilding it so much that i went and bought a few
more cars to restore, the 69 Malibu that is getting painted now, and a 69
Dodge Charger that is next in line. The 69 Chevelle is a numbers matching
307/powerglide car for those that do not know so I kept it that way. I
figured i'll have the nice hot rod and also a stock rocket too. I even went
out and bought another chevelle recently, a 67 4 door, 300 Deluxe series.
For $300 I could not pass it up, 52,000 original miles, 2nd owner. It only
has a 230 cid 6 cylinder but hey still a chevelle right. If I ever decide to
get another one, I'm going for a 65. I also find myself looking at anything
old that comes rolling down the road whether its all redone or a dailey
driver or whatever. I love seeing them.
now all I need is a good looking woman to fill up the passenger seat in the
70 or drive the 69 around when it's done :-D.
