I'll tell you this, every day since July 6th, 1972, when that gal pulled
her MG Convertible out in front of me and my 64 Malibu SS...I've looked,
watched, read and wanted another one. But in this area, I just never found
one. Heck, way back when I even went to the local Chevy parts man and talked
about buying all the parts to build a new one. Now I wish I had. But between
life's daily duties, and hardships, I never got the chance, til now.
Thanks to this list and message boards, come Saturday, my 64 Malibu SS
will be rolling off the truck, fresh from Arizona, ready for me and my
fifteen year old son to restore. It's got the light blue interior like mine
had, and a 283, which, unfortunately, I have learned it is not the original.
But hey, close as my poor pockets can get being on long term disability.
I'm about 150 lbs heavier than back when I had my chevelle, but she can
handle it. My garage, which hasn't been cleaned out for years, is now ready
and waiting, with tools just waiting as anxiously as I am. I won't sleep a
wink til the old gal is home and off the truck.
I've been sent some 30 photos of the car so far, from every angle and
position possible, including from underneath. Solid thru and thru and starts
out 80% original from what I can tell so far. There is a search underway for
that original engine and I'm told about a 50/50 chance she is still learking
around where the car came from. So I won't give up hope. But in the meantime,
we plan to chrome up the engine in her, like I used to have, just to give her
a shining new life.
So yep, ya got to love em.

Tom
