Chad, you can buy a decent LS-6 for around $26-$32k....search Chevelle
SS on collectorcartrader.com and see what you come up with. As far as
cloning goes, the motor is a very expensive part of the car. Getting a real
one in any shape could cost well over $10k by itself. LS-6/LS-7 crates
aren't available anymore as far as I know (if they were they'd be VERY
expensive).
Most people that have an LS-6 car never drive it on the street, it gets
trailered everywhere. If you're thinking about a daily driver, get the GM
454 crate motor (425 hp) and put it in whichever Chevelle you like best.
Then get the cowl induction hood with the flapper and a TH_400 tranny or an
M-22 four speed, toss in a striped paint job and some SS badges and you got
a great car. One thing though, don't ever misrepresent the car for what it's
not....if you show it, say it's a clone....everyone that has any sense about
SS Chevelles will know it anyway.
