I don't think the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is stamped on a '66
block.  There is an engine code on the front passenger side pad showing
assembly date and engine size/hp/etc.  There are also casting numbers on the
block, heads, intake, etc - see http://www.mortec.com for specifics - but
the VIN?  The VIN is what's on your title and the tag on the door - not even
the cowl tag has the VIN.  Putting the VIN on the block didn't start 'till
67 or '68 if what I read from other sources is correct.

I have a 67 Elky small block - no VIN on the engine code pad - and a 67 SS
with a '69 big block - again no VIN on the engine code pad.  Only plant
build dates and engine codes here.
