In regards to the possibility of a '65 Z-16 convertible ever existing, I remember reading a letter that was sent in to the read forum of one of the many magazines that I subscribe to.  The letter asked if there was ever a "...160 mph speedometer that was factory installed in a '65 Chevelle ?  The letter went on to say "The reason I ask is that about six months ago while looking through a junkyard, I came across a '65 Chevelle convertible and I noticed it had a 160 mph speedometer."  The editor's response was that there was supposedly one '65 Chevelle Z-16 convertible built, but not found.  And that Mark Meekins (spelling ?) from the National Chevelle Owners Association would be in contact with the author of the letter.
That letter was written a number of years ago.  And I have never heard another word about it.  Perhaps it was a dead end ?  Just thought I would share that story for those who have not heard about it.
