Sand is not great for sheet metal because it is too abrasive. Dry ice blasting is best for removing paint & rust from sheet metal w/o eroding the surface. Dry ice also does not leave any residue behind like sand does. Sand is fine for cast iron and steel (heavier) parts. I did my OEM steel wheels w/ sand and then used an etching primer & paint.

Has anyone used a commercial sandblaster to remove the paint on their Chevelle parts?......is sand ok to used.   Any recommendations? any hints?. We took the whole front end off our car and  want to do it right.
