Damaged circuit panel that carries the current to all the instrument panel items (whatever they call that) is what I have seen cause this. Take the top of your dash off & you can see it. Examine each copper circuit on it for damage. You may have to take it out of the car if the damaged area isn't apparent. I suspect it is arcing to something. If you have gauges, look carefully around the ammeter, I've had a couple go bad there. A temporary fix may be to insulate the spot it's damaged until you can repair/replace it. Glenn
