  Here is the info I used to install a 502 in my original 307 Malibu:

***YOU WANT THE "TALL AND NARROW SIZE" MOTOR MOUNTS - to be used with
350-396+ cubic inches frame mounts.  The mounts I removed from a '71 or '72
Chevelle have the part numbers stamped on the mounting flange. #3980712
pass. side & #3980711 drive side.  Measure the mounts you have and compare
to the measurements from the motor mounts listed below.  Is it possible that
you purchased 6 cylinder frame mounts ?  Also, if your car originally had a
350 as the previous owner stated, it would seem very odd that they knew
about the different frame mounts and changed those out as well (?).
