I had to put shims behind the frame mounts when I put a 283 in my 69 El Camino (originally had a 350). The shims are a real part (they weren't home made or anything like that). You should be able to get them if that's what you need.
John Nasta -----Original Message----- Hi Rodney, If you haven't figured out how your brackets mount yet, my idea involves some extra work but it might solve your problem... With the engine out of the car, install the motor mounts on the block, then attach the frame brackets to the motor mounts the way you think they should go. Now lower the engine into the bay and see where the frame brackets sit on the crossmember. If none of the holes line up, try swapping the frame brackets to opposite sides of the engine. Sooner or later you'll come up with the correct configuration. I know it's a lot of work, but at least it might help get the engine in the car where it belongs! cYa- Herb Lumpp 1966 El Camino ACES 3509, MCC 528 http://users.adelphia.net/~hlump/ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rodney." <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, November 08, 2002 4:28 PM Subject: [Chevelle-List] frame bracket help! - 307 to 350 > Hey guys, > > I've been thrown a curve ball while doing this engine swap.
