> <PRE>herb, is this how you broke the tranny?? > No, actually since day one it hasn't shifted smooth from 1st to 2nd and it would "grind" from 5th to 6th unless you paused between the two. During my first run on the track at Bristol, I tried to shift into 2nd and it wouldn't go. I probably tried four or five times until I finally gave up and shifted to 3rd, by that time I was half way down the track. The following two runs weren't as dramatic, I was having fuel flow problems but I think I've fixed that.
Anyway. I spoke to Richmond and they were more than willing to take a look at the 6 speed so I shipped it back to them. To make a long story a little shorter, I spoke to Richmond again yesterday and they said it shifts perfectly after they replaced all the synchros and sliders (they have a dyno of sorts with a clutch and a water brake to load the trans so they can shift through the gears as if it's in a car). Whether my tranny works "perfect" or not, all I can say is Richmond is a fantastic company that stands behind their products. I guess I should give UPS special thanks for manhandling my box and breaking the tailshaft housing during shipping. Oh wait, that special thanks should go to Richmond because they replaced it for me free of charge (along with the other work they did)! cYa- Herb Lumpp 1966 El Camino ACES 3509, MCC 528 http://users.adelphia.net/~hlump/ ----------------------------------------------------- To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
