What's the opinion here? Buy the setup from a company that has a KIT
which is new, ready to go, and can be shipped immediately. Or hunt down
the parts yourself, clean them up and save some money. If i find my own
parts, then can anybody tell me roughly how much i can do this
conversion for? I'm curious to see what the price difference (roughly)
would be between buying a conversion kit, or making my conversion.
Hello!

I bought an 85 Caprice for $300, and took everything from the spindles out, as well as the frame-to-brake-line brackets and the distribution block. New calipers were $30, new master cylinder was $160. Ball joints were $60 for all four, and machining the lowers was $30. I bought new lines, say $15. I was told that I needed offset control arm shafts, and they were $75 each, but the car aligned just fine without them. Tie rods were $40.

As a rough estimate, because I probably forgot some items, say $800 Canadian. I could have bought the spindles and all for less, but the Caprice was a deal and had some other things I wanted too. Perhaps you could find a similar deal.

In Canadian dollars, a kit would be about $1600, after taxes, exchange, shipping, etc.

This was for a 67, by the way. I hope this helps!

Dave.
