Hey guys... still battling my alternator problem.  I think I have it
figured
 out now though (in my head anyway).  I just want to make sure I measure the
 resistence of my tan wire going to the alternator.  I need greater than 35
 ohms.  I have never really been taught how to use a multimeter, just kind
of
 picked it up and learned as I went along.  I'd like to run this by some of
 you who know what you're doing and see if I'm on the right track.

 To measure resistance I think I am supposed to turn the meter to either
 (going by memory here, forgive me) 200 ohm,  2k ohm, 200k ohm, 2 M ohm, or
 20 M ohm.

 I'm thinking I should set it to 2M, but I'm not sure.  Could someone let me
 know if this is correct and maybe a quick explination why?

 Next, I (after turning off all power in the wire) connect one lead to one
 end of the wire and one lead to the other end.

 Will the reading say 35, 37, 49, etc. or will it be in decimal like .035?
 (remember I'm trying to get 35 ohms of resistance or more)

 If anyone could let me know if I've got this down I'd appreciate it!
 Thanks!  (I'll give more details, updates and pictures of the engine swap,
 re-wiring, and flowmaster install once I get my daily driver (which now
 hasn't seen the road in 4 weeks (ouch!)) is back on the road!)  Sounds
 great, but MAN are those 40 series loud! :)
