Probably not. If your battery is very empty, the alternator will charge it with a lot of amps (50A+). I cannot imagine that this current will run trough the fusebox.
It will probably be a bad connecting as you suggested. I had a Chevy Van G30 with the 6.2 Diesel engine. It had two batteries just to start it. I measured the voltage at the starter and with 1 battery it dropped to 4.5 volts and 5.8 with two. Examining the wiring route, it had a lot of connectings and a swiths. Making a straight thick wire from 1 battery to the starter. Voltage dropped to 8.5 volts.

Just my 2 cents.

Subject: [Chevelle-List] low volts part 2

Thanks for all the info guys. I have tried just about everything I can think of. Herb ,I tried a volt meter at the battery with the car running, same thing. One more question, does the charging system run through the fuse block? I have always had trouble with it as some of the connections are very rusty. I am thinking maybe that is where I'm getting to much resitance at a bad connection. ???  Thanks, Vernon
