I am also looking to get a new carb/intake to replace the stock rochester on my 327. It's gonna be a driver, so I'm thinking something economical as well. When all of you speak of quadrajets, is that any quadrajet in general, or specific brand/model?

Thanks,

GIno

Put me down as another vote for a Q-Jet. I recently replaced an Edelbrock
#1406 (600 CFM w/electric choke) on a stock 350 with a Q-Jet and gained a
little mileage without sacrificing performance, but to be fair I never really
tuned the Edelbrock other than leaning the secondary metering a bit.

Both the Edelbrock (an AFB clone) and Q-Jet have adjustable metering systems
although the ease differs. The Edelbrock primary system is easier to work with
because you don't have to remove the airhorn but its secondary air valve has a
fixed weight so there's not much you can do there, and IIRC it requires airhorn
removal while the Q-Jet doesn't.

If Mikey doesn't want my #1406 I'd be happy to let you make me an offer for
it. ;^)
