I
checked both casting numbers at http://www.mortec.com and came up empty with
. When you say block code and head code, I assume you're referring to the
casting numbers?
I
remember reading here or on TC that sometimes the engine plants would stamp the
additional "H" on Holley equipped engines as an identifier. The only "HC"
code I can find for Chevelles is a 69 350-2 L65 engine w/standard
trans. I have a Chilton's Manual that shows the "HC" code for
65-69 327 Chevrolet full size and Corvette but it's with a PG and NOT
the high performance model. What is the rest of the engine number
stamped on the front pad?
I
wonder if this is his engine or "he's selling it for a friend" and doesn't
really know anything about it? Sounds like it's akin to all the 396/375hp
and LS6 engines out there...more than the General ever produced. I don't
show a 66 327/350 engine (L79) for a 66 model, and can't find a listing for any
in any books I have or on TC - were any 66 L79's built?
With an engine date of July 9, 1966, that's pretty late in the
model year - you must have a very late production 66.
