I said a while back that I would let you guys know about the portable ignition box that I have. It is K-D Tools part #2632. it bypasses the whole ignition system, including the ignition switch, coil, ECU, pickup, condensor, points, ballast resistor, etc. It works with standard points ignition and GM HEI. I have been running my El Camino with no engine wiring harness by hooking up this box. Everybody should have one. It can get you out of a jam if any part of your ignition system fails while you're out on the road. Having one of these puppies also makes it very easy to steal a car, because you can start it without a key (the box bypasses that little formality too).
