I could be wrong, but I think that only works of your ignition system is
healthy and the key is on. This box bypasses all of the ignition system
components. I have no engine wiring harness at all and I can run the engine
with this box. There are 2 wires to hook up to the battery, and a plug that
goes into the distributor. Then there is a remote start switch w/ 2 wires
that get connected to the starter and battery. Flip the run switch to on,
hit the remote starter button, and off you go. I think it's a pretty handy
thing to have.

Actually I've used the redneck version for many years. Four wires and two
switches. I put alligator clips to the four wire ends. The use one circuit
(one switch) for the coil and the other for the starter. That's about it.
