Thanks for the suggestions, but if I were to sue Ron, I believe it would have to be filed in his jurisdiction because that is where the work was done. That's about 325 miles from me, which is way too far to have to make court appearances. There's also the chance that I would get an unsympathetic judge and lose, or that I might win, but then of course Ron is always broke, so I would probably never collect. Another problem is that I never received any written documentation of what was being done and for what price. Ron plays this little game whereby he can never tell you how much the job is going to cost. Even after my car had 3 coats of primer on it he was not able to tell me how much (even an estimate) it would cost to finish. By playing this game, he gets away with never putting anything in writing, which makes it harder to sue him when he is finished butchering your car.
