I've been looking for a '66-'67 Chevelle project car and have run across a
couple that did not have a title or any documentation of ownership. The
owners claim it's easy to get a title through various services that work
through the state of Georgia. I seem to remember discussions on this list
saying to stay away from such cars, unless they are used for parts cars.
What are the pitfalls with this "Georgia" approach? I would be registering
it eventually in NY.
Tell them to give you a call when they have a title to transfer.
I once had a guy try to sell me a car that was signed over (once, twice-who knew?)
and of the three names on the title he was not any of them!
When I questioned this he got irate and so I left.
Be careful.
