yep, for sure, but he needs a tap to do that and they dont have 1/2" UNEF left hand taps in their shop, its rare stuff I think.

No I'm talking about "single tooling the threads". If he has threading
gears (as most lathes do) he can drill the hole then cut the thread
with a 60 deg thd tool (takes many passes).
