I have had KYBs on
my Chevelle and they did not last. I do have the car stiffened up quite a
bit, which likely contributed since most people like them. I have
adjustable Konis on the car now and they are great, but it is a PITA to adjust
them since you have to remove them first. I adjusted them for my first
track day and left them on track settings for the street for the last five
years... I have Bilsteins on my '66 Corvette and love them. If you
can pick up that set for $100, DO IT NOW! That is not only a smokin' deal,
but you will get a great shock.
If I were starting
over with my car, I would seriously consider the QA1s, budget allowing.
But if I saw Bilsteins for $100 a set - no brainer. Buy them now and
save up for the QA1 if you think you need adjustability.

i'm looking at what my costs are to redo my whole suspension for my 65. anyone have any experiance with what shocks are good for everyday driving but also can stand up for performance. i read the super chevy article thi slast month and they used qa1 shocks but i called them up and they priced themselves right out of my consideration. at 163 each for fronts and 173 each for rears thats a little too steep for me to touch. Bilsteins can be had for 360 a set through hotchkis. and KYB can be had for 120 a set through PST, any others out there i should check out and consider, anyone have any of these and can testify how they like them. thanks in advance guys to anyone that can help.
