Randy, Your 64 Buick is a GM Abody, just like a Chevelle. Many companies make disc conversions for your car. I personally have installed several from Master Power brakes. It is an easy conversion although it does require a spindle swap. The stock BOP 10 bolt rear end is very strong and will handle a stout small block. An Eaton Posi unit would be a good addition and is less than four bills. Rear end gears all depend on what you want the car to do. With a 700R4 you could go as high as a 3.73 and still have a good highway cruise. The low first gear ratio in the 700 will make the Skylark jump and still cruise at less than two grand at 55. Are you sure you want to put a Chevy power plant in the Buick? I personally don't like to mix brands unless it's in a rod. But it's your car. I am currently building a 64 Skylark conv for a customer with a stock 355 Wildcat engine. It runs real nice and has good power even with the ST300 two speed trans. A 700 or 200 trans would really make it a great highway car.Mike Holleman
