Went to look at a 70 Malibu today. I have been eying it for a couple of years and noticed it now had a for sale sign on it. This old girl is rough. The vinyl top has been removed and the guy "shaker can" painted the top. All the trim is missing. Rust in all the typical places for an Illinois car. Paint is destroyed. 307, 10 bolt peg leg. Red with a green interior. The good points were: bucket interior w/ console. SS dash, grill and wheels. I thought it would be a good parts car or a nice project for me to do my own body work and drive for a while. I'm thinking $1000-$2000 tops. Talked to the guy yesterday and he was firm at $8500. I almost started laughing. I realized right there that there was no reason to haggle on price. I just gave him my card and told him when he gets closer to the $1500 range give me a call. He looked at me like I was nuts and said " do you realize this is a classic muscle car" I just smiled and said "Yes, I have two almost as nice as this one at home" :)
