Hans,

You should try to get your hands on some "reverse" drill bits and run
your drill backwards, that will sometimes make the bolt come out by
itself while drilling.

As for the hardening, I don�t think the material will harden until it
cools down, and then only if it cools down rapidly (like using water).
Correct me if I'm wrong here.
