I have a '70 Chevelle and I recently bought a 454 4-bolt to put in it. I had originally planned to put a small block in it, and had bought a Turbo 350 trans to put behind it. Since my younger brother bought the small block to put in his camaro (with which he got a 700-R4), I also traded him trannys. I was wondering if anyone has information or tips about putting a 4 speed transmission in a car that was built for a 3 speed. Also, approximations about what it costs to do any modifications would be helpful. Thanks!

No modifications except adding in the appropriate clutch and shifter linkage/pedals and a flywheel as opposed to a flexplate. The best tip I can give is get a Lakewood blowshield. You may or may not have to have a driveshaft cut to fit depending on which 4 speed you choose.  It's a pretty basic swap, it can be done in a day no problem.
