I installed a pair of the QP1000 headers on my 40 Ford coupe streetrod back
in 1992 and had a lot of problems getting them to seal at the cylinder head.
Those headers are an iron casting similar to stock exhaust manifolds, not
tube headers. I never even talked to Sanderson but finally found a gasket
set-up that cured the problem. However,I installed a pair of their intermediate
1 7/8" BB tube headers on my 68 El Camino w/468" and loved them. My 69 El Camino
is really low so the header clearance really needs to be taken into
consideration. Like I mentioned before,I'd try the Patriot or Hedman
intermediates but they won't clear the Z-bar. Hooker and most other full-length
headers hang down way too much so they're not an option, either.
Good luck in your search,Larry. Let us know what you decide on.
