You may very well be right Bill. I just found it
curious that in my case, it started with 13817 (which made sense to me) but the
following 27 just threw me off...

I don't think it cost them anything more to stamp the panels
when they were made. It was possibly an identifier stamp for Fisher
body to know whether it was to go on a 2 door, 4 door, or
convertible.
