I've had spider gears blow apart, ring gears shear teeth off, pinion gears
shear teeth off. The internals simply can't handle the torque a high
performance engine will produce. Granted aftermarket parts will help
increase the strength, but nothing can replace what a 12 bolt will handle.
For what it costs to buy all the parts and have someone build you a rear, you
can buy a 12 bolt ready to go in a car.
