First, I gotta say that it wasn't until this weekend that I REALLY understood what I was missing from my life. I think I'm just the kind of guy who needs to be playing with cars to feel complete. Its not like I really know that much. If anything, it is the fact that I *don't* know everything that makes it so much fun. But that's not why I'm writing this post. I want to rant a little about what a major clusterf**k my car is. Not that it bothers me, because I wanted a POS to work on, but rather that the previous owner was such an idiot. Some of the priceless examples of auto-mechanic genius: - Apparently, the transmission kickdown cable, vacuum advance, and fuel return lines serve no purpose, because they were unhooked completely - Positive battery cables should be replaced with Monster Cable brand speaker wire. - If you don't know where a wire goes, just cap it off with a wire nut and stick it where it won't get in the way (of the dangling kickdown cable) The list could go on. Honestly, it doesn't bother me to have inherited such a mess, I'm just dumbfounded that people could be so completely careless. If you're not going to do it right, just don't do it at all. After this weekend, I honestly feel like I liberated my car from certain doom.
