Larry, the last time I checked it I was getting around 15 on the highway. Mine is a mild 454 with stock heads, I haven't replaced them yet with the heads I had done with the 2.19 & 1.88 valves. The cam I am running is single pattern hydraulic .515 lift @ 272 adv. duration, stock intake, 750 Edelbrock Quadrajet carb, TH400 trans, 3.31 12 bolt posi. and 27 inch tall tires.

I plan on changing out the heads, and putting in roller tip rockers and leaving everything else the same. I don't know what the MPG's will be, but I'll bet it will get worse because I will be sticking my foot in it maybe a little more so the mileage will possibly be down. :-)

Subject: [Chevelle-list] BIg Block Gas Mileage

I know there are many factors that influence the number, but I'm curious what kind of gas mileage everybody is getting in their big blocks.

In my case, I have a .030 over 396 with roller parts, 870 CFM Holley Street Avenger carb, 4 speed and a 373 rear end. Any guesses? 8? 10? 12?
