I'm going to look at one (he says, hating to let the cat out of the bag too early). Current owner claims it was an original SS car from the factory (don't they all?). The wife says it's not the original engine because that one was ceased when her husband was a teenager. She claims it was replaced with a BBC from a Corvette because at that time they didn't worry about originality, and they thought it would be easier to swap in a running engine than to rebuild the original. It does not have a functional cowl induction hood but it does have an SS hood, and she says the hood is original to the car and that the car has never been repainted or restored. She also said that it does have power disc brakes, console automatic, and bucket seats, which are supposed to all be original to the car. Supposedly there is only one small tear in the interior and only minor rust in the lower corners. Overall it's supposed to be in very good shape aside from the fact that it hasn't been run in 12 years. She is supposed to be emailing me some pictures. She says her husband has owned this car since he was 15 years old and drove it for several years before garaging it for the past 12 years. Apparently the car has not been run all those years because the owner moved away and the car just sat in his dad's garage, but now he's back and he wants to sell it. 69 & 70 are my favorite years, so to have one of each would be awesome. I also occasionally lament the lack of a back seat and/or a trunk with the El Camino. If I get this car I will probably be bugging you all a lot. Thanks, John Nasta
