You have to torque the bolts or nuts. The shims go between the shaft and the frame mounts over the two bolts that bolt the shaft to the frame.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] Upper control arms

I have two questions that seem kinda stupid but I want to make sure I do it right.....

1)   On the front upper control arms I had mentioned  that I replaced the cross shaft and that left me with a male thread on the outside of the bushing.  Once the center shaft  is mounted to the frame, the control arm slides back and forth on the shaft.  Do I just center it and tighten the nuts down against each other or is there something that I am missing?  Is there shims that I should have put on before pressing the cross shaft in?  I am open to criticism but I want to get it right while I am doing it.

2)     I have a set of 71 SS Rims.  I really dont like the looks of the blue bowtie that is supposed to be the center caps.  I was wondering if the center caps that say "SS" will mount to these rims with the retainers or am I outta luck?

Thanks for all the help

Ryan
