I had to remove my small block from mine to change the timing cover gasket
and oil pan gasket. I attempted to do it in the car, just wasn't worth the
time and energy. I don't think you can really get the motor high enough to
remove the pan in a 64-67 A body(it is possible, but you have to pull too
much)

ok guys, i knew i needed to remove motor mounts and jack up motor to
replace oil pan, but my bell housing hits firewall before removal. i
have a 67 el camino with 350 and 4 speed, i guess its a given i need to
remove motor completely to change pan, huh? im only stating the obvious
but any pointers?im going down many rabbit holes right now any
