As to being light enough for two guys to lift, it wasn't a problem for two guys to lift ONE END AT A TIME. I was quite surprised how easy the job was.
Good luck John. Forgot about that. I guess I could separate it at the rag joint. Interesting to know that it is light enough for two guys to lift. Did you have the interior out? I need to have some welding done on the left frame rail right at the rear body mount location, and also on the body mount tower on the front left corner. I really don't want to put this car back together with rot problems at 2 body mount locations. With the front end clip removed, I made two stacks of cement blocks just behind the firewall, one on either side of the car, then had the two guys lift the front of the body high enough for me to put an 8 ft long piece of 4x4 across under the body on top of the two stacks of blocks. I then repeated the process on the back side of the body. After that, I just rolled the chassis forward out of the way. The steering column, wiring harness, linkages, etc. will have to be cleared out of the way first. I just want to lift it high enough to swap out the body mounts and get a welder into a couple of places, and paint it with Corroseal and some kind of top coat. The engine, transmission, driveshaft, fuel tank, and exhaust are all out, and the whole nose is off. What else would I need to take out or disconnect aside from the body mounts? Also, is there a chart anywhere that shows the locations of the body mounts in a 1970 Malibu coupe? If anybody knows of a good deal on a solid frame that I wouldn't have to pay a fortune to transport (i.e. not far from southern NJ), I'd consider that too. Thanks, John Nasta
