Where are you getting it from? most of the shops include flexplate and balancer with the 383 crate engine although some of them say 'need externally balanced flywheel for manual trans' ...so it shoudln't be an issue for your automatic... a 383 uses a 350 block, all accessories should bolt up... however, "NOTE: Distributor with melonized steel gear MUST be used with long blocks and partial engines with steel camshafts, or engine damage will occur. We recommend HEI distributor P/N 93448806"

Its been a while, but isn't the 383 the result of using a small block 400 crank in a 350 block? If so, the 400 was externally balanced & used a different balancer & flexplate. Currently I am having a upgraded 700R4 transmission installed with a 2400 rpm lock-out converter along with either 3.55 or 3.73 gears (will make that decision in the next couple of days) including having posi. installed. I think this combination should match up well with the 383ci, or if I have to, any of the 350ci crate engines. Thanks in advance for your help.
