I did the same work to my 71 earlier this year. I put new front springs back in and bolted everything up. Then I looked at my old springs and realized they had flat spots. I have no idea which way I put the new ones in. More than likely mine are in wrong, but I'm not tearing into that suspension again anytime soon. I'm a horrible mechanic, at least the first time around. My car doesn't sit level but I think it has more to do with a blown air shock in the rear that needs to get tore out. It slants about 4 inches to the left without me in the car and I'm rather large. So I'm sure its real interesting with me in the car!

If you don't get both springs positioned the same, your ride height will be off from side to side. If you look in the cup area of the lower control arm, you will see an indentation for the end of the last coil on the spring.
