Marsha, So well said.  To the person driving the car that hit my Neo, I have always said “thank you” .  There was nothing that would have saved a 4 pound chi under a wheel, but the driver did stop, realize no hope and called the local police to report it.  That saved us hours of agony.  At least he had the decency to stop and report. I have to admit that about 7 years ago a cat ran out in front of me.  I hit the brakes hard, only ended up on the curb, but the cat ended up on the other side of the road.  I almost got hit by two cars trying to determine the cat’s injuries while I was crossing the street.  Sometimes I hate people.  But, she was very dead.  It was not easy but I moved her to the far side of the road, when home and cried.  Before I gave into my complete self guilt, I called the police to report that I hit a cat, location, etc.  and they told me that it is required to report an accident involving a domestic animal.  It didn’t make me feel much better but at least they knew, I would have really lost it if I were thinking that Neo was just “out there’ on his own.   Another point I don’t’ want to start:  PETA    P:  People E: Eliminating T: The A: Animals that we love   Through all of the hype that PETA sends out, their message is that no one should “own” animals of any type.  Personally, I don’t see Trinity or any chi living in the wild on berries and sprouts. I just need to share with people who can understand. And that feeling of guilt over not closing the door tight.....same here, only I feel quilt over not going to check on him a little earlier when I had this nagging feeling I needed to. If I had only gone looking for him a half hour earlier. The "if only's" are so hard!. I  now recall you mentioning he had been hit by a car, but had forgotten that in my earlier post. That "thud" you can't get out of your head?? Same as the picture of Chips bleeding body that I can't get out of mine.   Let this be a reminder to all of us when we are behind the wheel to take special care to be on the lookout for all of God's creatures and if, Lord forbid, we do accidentally hit something, to take the time to see if there is anything we can do. It may be too late, but we need to check. Don't let an animal lay on the side of the road and suffer pain! Marsha       Hello, I know that awful feeling. The car that hit Nacho was going about a 100MPH I know, they never slowed one bit,and never even stopped to see what they had hit. If they had not been speeding so fast they might have avoided that.If only I had not forgotten to close the door tightly. It still hurts me so bad. I can't seem to stop thinking of him and that horrible THUD sound. I don't mean to keep on and on,but just need to tell someone how sad I feel.
