Hi Lee Ann~ I too fostered 2 male chihuahuas, both 2 years old and recently neutered. They also made a mess in the house by marking everywhere. Also, one of them bit my husband, but that was funny. Anyway, I currently have 2 Australian Shepherds, 1 male and 1 female. I also have a male Sheltie. I find that the males are more agreeable and listen much better than the females. The girls are forever challenging me. The females also seem to be more troublesome. However, I had both males neutered at the same time when they were both 6 months old. They fought constantly until the surgery, and then amazingly began to be best friends. Therefore, our family seems to have better luck with the males, but I wasn't sure if it's also a breed issue. I'm hoping that having him neutered will curtail any undesirable behavior.
