Could it be an abscessed whisker? Kinda like an ingrown hair in a human?? Looks like it is in the right place. I did have a pup once that the new owners said had a lump on it's side. I had gave the pup a good check and had had him to the vet 4 times before placing him and neither myself or the vet had noticed anything, so I told the lady that if the vet found any injury, ask for a written statement of how long ago it had happened, ect, and if she was not happy still, I would take the pup back and refund her money, if she could show me that the pup had something wrong with it prior to leaving me or if it was a genetic default. Eventually, she told me that it was a "rib" that just showed more than others and the vet could not find any health or genetic problems at all. I would say that unless this lump changes in any way (grows, moves, becomes infected, ect) and as long as it isn't bothering Trinity, I wouldn't worry to much. Sometimes, we just have characteristics that are "different", like a mole or a wart on a human. Just keep an eye on it and look for signs of change or bothering Trinity....which could indicate a problem.

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Nose bump question

Hi guys,

This sounds silly, but, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience (not necessarily a specific chi issue) with a lump on your dog. Trinity came from a foster home with 6 other dogs, all much, much larger than she is and she had a bump/lump on her nose.  We thought that she probably got it from playing with the larger dogs and that it would go away. Well, it never did go away.  It is not hard, nor is it soft, just kind of like the rest of her body feels. It doesn’t bother her at all, no pulling back or yipping when we pet her face.

When she had her vet visit, the vet’s main concern was that she might have an abscessed tooth but, her teeth were fine.  He basically couldn’t say what it was and dismissed it.  He said just to keep an eye on it if it started to get bigger, bother her, etc.  It has stayed the same since we got her early last spring.  I am just curious if anyone has seen this before.  Maybe just a fatty deposit?  Trinity will be three in the spring and except for her obnoxious habit of getting into the most bizarre things she is very healthy.

The attached picture really highlights the little lump, most of her pictures it doesn’t even show. Thanks.
