You
are right on the prices. I try to get my little ones in a home when
they are young.. It isn't so much the money but the quailty of a home
and like I said in my last post I prefer pet homes.. I only breed like
a couple of times a year and it is a hobby . My dogs are my family and
that is first and formost but I want to know the offspring are cared
for.. I have a boy here that doesn't see well and I won't sell him and
I am waiting for the right home up here because I cry at the thought of
flying him alone . So Joseph stays forever with me or when the right
home shows up he will be neutered and very loved.. The only condition
is I will keep in touch and if it doesn't work out he will come back
here.. I would rather keep him then place him if I can't get this
much.. I will know the right home when it comes and then I will only
charge for his neuter and the one exam to the eye specialist. I wish
the woman in the wheel chair was up here in Alaska. Cindy

From
what I know of todays prices for Chi puppies, a good champion blood
line for a show quality pup is around a thousand or a little more.
Good quality from champion blood lines are 600 and up, Pet quality is
400 and up. But sometimes, if a breeder doesn't sell a top of the
line and has it "fixed" you can get it for about
half price. (I've learned that many top breeders will "fix" their
older pups to prevent them from falling into the
hands of bad breeders or puppy mills. That was what happened with
Jose. The breeder refused to sell him to the person who was buying him
when she heard talk about cages. Refunded the deposit and kept the
pup, then another deal fell through when the people didn't come up with
the money due, so by then he was old enough to neuter, and as I was
only looking for a pet and it would be neutered he worked out perfect
for us.
So keep your eyes open for a older pup too.

No, I don't think that you
were being cheap. Some of them are mixed . If you are going to pay
that much for a mixed. You should just get a pure bred.

I
