I really don't think dogs have the cognitive abilities to feel all the emotions you say they do toward clothes.   I don't even know how they would differentiate the doggie clothes you think are disrespectful to them with anything else you might put on them like a collar or harness, or a flotation device when a large dog is in a boat, a blaze orange vest on a hunting dog or even a vest on a police dog.  And one can't KNOW all dogs feels badly toward clothes.  That is quite a generalization when dogs within a breed, and then across the board, can be so different from one another.   It very well could be the dogs you've dealt with act negatively toward dog clothes because the dogs are picking up from you, that you yourself, don't like dog clothes.   A lot of members have posted back that their dogs love dog clothes and seem quite happy in them.  My chi comes across as very happy and smug in her little duds too.  Chihuahuas seem to be such natural little heat seekers with the way they like to be close to our bodies and burrow under the cover.  Clothes seem like a natural for them.    I can totally understand someone not wanting to put dog clothes on their dogs, but I cannot see why anyone would care that others do.   When I see a child with human baby clothes on her Labrador puppy or an old lady with her poodle dressed to the nines, it makes my day=)   katie " Lets talk about our wonderful little friends!
