Even though many large dogs are gentle and would not hurt a small dog on purpose, they can easily hurt them while playing or simply stepping on them may hurt a smaller dog.
I have a friend who's gentle large dog got mad at her terrier one day and ripped it to shreads - needless to say the terrier did not live.
I would love to have a pet bunny as a friend for my chi. I worry about the mess it may make in the house though...
