Cindy   This is quite terrible.  I have read of this happening to other people but I cannot remember where I've read about it.  It may have been on the AKC.org web site.........  Or..it may have been on this link:   Petpages Pet Forums, Dog Forums, Animal Forums, Discussion Forum   The above link is a forum of people who have been scammed or people have tried to scam.  I had heard there was some scamming going on, but I never knew how extensive it was until I read some of the above link.   Your husband is right.  You CANNOT be flying down to FL!!  Do you realize if you were to fly down there and confront this woman that she could call the police on YOU and make up something you had done to her and you would end up in way more trouble than she is in? Long ago, someone I know well was starting out in business and he went alone to try to collect a debt from a particularly annoying customer.  There was a verbal altercation between the two of them, that's all, then the guy I know left.  Meanwhile, the debtor gets mad about being asked for the money he owes and he calls the police and makes a report that the guy had come to collect a bill, roughed him up, threw him on the floor and took money out of his pocket.  I can't remember what the charge was, but it was a hefty felony.  It cost the guy about 3k to get it dropped down to simple assault(which was cheaper than going to trial and possibly losing).  My point is, people must never go off mad and be confronting people you already know are shady.  If anyone ever feels they must do this, you need to have a police officer meet you at the house!!   I don't know what you can do about this. I just know you should not fly down there now.  It's a waste of money, too.  Maybe, if you end up needing to go to court on this you can fly down then.  Check around online.  There must be other people who have had the exact problem and may have posted somewhere on what to do.   I feel bad this has happened to you.   katie " Lets talk about our wonderful little friends!
