I live with my boyfriend who is deaf as well. He loves to get G'Mo
going to bug me. Or when his cat is in heat he just laughs at me
because I am the one who has to listen to her whine:)

does tend to get on a hearie's nerves don't it! lol First, I have
one chi, Pepper, who is a hearing dog. It is his JOB to bark and
alert me to sounds. This drives my ds crazy, because Pepper barks to
tell on him! I make sure I NEVER try to stop Pepper from barking
because I do not want him to become confused about doing his job.

are permitted to bark and carry on. For instance, if they are all in
the family room playing, they are allowed to bark all they want...it
is no different, to me, than the laughter of human kids as they play.

bottle method works best for me. Some people say their chis like the
water, so the penny in a can method works better for them.

No method worked for him! lol.

is important to remember that barking is a dogs voice, and sometimes
there is a reason for the bark...they have something important to
say or are letting you know something. In my opinion, it isn't right
to try to cease barking altogether. The goal should be to train the
dog to know when barking is ok and when it is not.

even me when I first come home. I can't train Mija like other dogs
because of her disablity like sit stay and stuff she can't do any
of those things but I sure would like to somehow lessen her barking
a tad bit. She was abused before she came to me and I just want to
be very careful that she doesn't think I would ever be mean to her.
When she first came to my home she would cower down and just shack I
would pick her up and hug and kiss her and tell her she was safe it
was ok and a 1 year and 1/2 later she seems to not remember what had
happened to her. So I don't want to do anything at all to her to
make her think I broke my promise to keep her safe forever. So if
anyone has any good ideas please let me know whats the best way to
go about teaching her to not bark so much?
