I trained Minnie by putting her in her crate and repeating "go potty,
and u can get out", as soon as she went potty I opened the door and I
gave her a doggie treat. Now, the crate door is open all the time ,
except when she's eating, to keep my Lacie from getting her food and
vise versa, and now she goes in and out to go potty, or to take a nap
when I am busy. All other sleeping is done on my lap or in bed with me
:-) I still give her doggie treats everytime she goes in to go potty. I
know this sounds un-believeable but, she has only pottyed on the floor
8 time since I got her Dec 26,06, so I am very happy with my method of
crate training, kinda like a reverse crate training. I am blessed,
that I can be home with her, but when I run to town and it's too hot or
cold to take her with me, I can put her in her crate and she has a
safe, dry place she can go potty. With the grate over the pee pad, she
is always dry footed :-) I also have a bird water bottle, that she
licks, hanging on the side of her crate. I'm never gone long enough for
her to get hungry, or at least fed.....LOL.....she's hungry all the
time....LOL. Of course she acts like I have been gone for days....LOL. My only problem with Minnie is that when she hasn't seen someone for a while....like more than 24 hrs....lol.....she gets so excited, she wiggles her butt so fast, she flings little drops of pee all over the person that picks her up. I have over come this by putting her diaper on her when I take her to see people, but it would be nice to not have to do that, Any one have experience with this? Marie wrote:
