Welcome to the group and congratulations on your new family member!!! And
kudos for adopting a rescue!
Emotional neediness and insecurity is very normal for a rescue dog and will
probably decrease on its own with time, as she realizes you're really it and
her happy home isn't temporary. The breathing thing, I don't know. If I
were you, I'd talk to the vet about it. Chihuahuas are prone to reverse
sneezing, but that doesn't sound like what you describe. Some small dogs
can be asthmatic, so I'd want the vet to give an opinion on this.
