Oh, poor girl.

I've never known any animal that had cancer. I would guess, but don't know, the same things that do it to humans like smoke, stuff in the air, stuff in the food. ??

Yes.....it really did hurt a whole lot and I hope I never have to do it again. I loved her enough to let her go before she was in a lot of pain, but she must have been uncomfortable. The main tumor had grown from the size of an orange to the size larger than a grapefruit from Sat. to Mon. The vet put her on anti-biotics and steriods as a pre-op measure, and that shrunk the tumor slightly but 2 more tumors, the size of eggs, developed next to the big tumor, within a week. So I knew surgery was useless. The vet said he was 99% sure it was a bad, fast growing cancer. When she grew 2 more tumors, so fast, I knew he was right. So I did what I had to do. Does anyone know why cats and dogs get cancer these days? I am 56 yr old and I have had many, many cats and dogs and never before, the last few years, have I seen cats and dogs getting cancer like this. Just thinking out loud.

I am very sorry for your loss too. That's a darn shame! It must really hurt to have to make that decision (I hope I never have to). I wish they'd live as long as people, too. But just the lucky ones that find good homes. I'd hate to think about all the ones in mills and pounds and such living that long. Marie

I am soooooo very sorry for ur loss! :-( . I had to put down my bigger outside dog this last Fri, because of a very fast growing cancer. We have had her for many years and I know it breaks ur heart. I wish dogs would live as long as most people. Hope u find another sweetie to fill the whole in ur heart soon.

Well, I've had her for 10 years now. There are some things I wish were different, but that's basically our fault for not training her better. But we love her! Marie
I am glad she found you!  Unfortunately, not all dog owners are as patient as you are.  Bad breeders are also a BIG reason dogs get turned in at pounds.  Especially because of the cleanliness problem.
